New Moon in Scorpio

November 5, 2010 PDT

This can be a healing Moon phase, a good time to tend to matters requiring subtlety and care, especially if tender feelings are involved. This waxing fortnight is supportive for rebuilding relationships with close friends and lovers. In fact, old emotional hurts and guarded, sensitive wounds can act up like arthritis in damp weather. It’s a signal to tend to the neglected wounds from the past.

The station of Neptune clouds judgment and confuses communication throughout the first week of November. People will mistakenly ask, “Is Mercury retrograde again?” This Neptunian ‘influence’ thins the veils between our various modes of perception because it actively opens our mind to non-typical states of awareness and fosters dreamy reverie. With Uranus adding some excitement and “Aha” intuitive insightfulness, the first weekend of November might seem disorienting if you try to stay purely focused, productive, and on-task with the mundane details of daily life.

If you can liberate your mind and find asylum for your free-ranging imagination, even if only in the form of day-dreaming, you might float, soar, sail, drift, and fantasize your way into some inspiring and motivating states of consciousness! The Scorpio energy invites us into the depths in order to tap our power source and do the deep healing work. Do not be afraid of the dark, or fear that you will be overwhelmed eternally. Invite your allies to the edge and ask them to wait beside you if you need to journey into the pit that holds your pain and hides your treasure. Some trips must be made solo, however what you bring back will serve not just your own quest for wholeness but will be a gift for your friends and fellow travelers.

Full Moon in Taurus

November 21, 2010

Like the New Moon earlier in the month, this Full phase is loaded with dreamy and mysterious symbolism via Neptune’s alignment. This lunation urges you to heed your longings, and to endure the exquisite agony of feeling your heart’s deepest desires -in order to fulfill them! Make some time to simply BE. Like taking a deep, full, relaxing breath before that next big leap, this Full Moon in Taurus calls you into the sweet caress of calm, a steadying centeredness, and nourishing stillness. A prime time, if you will, to experience the heart of tranquility and a peace of mind before the noisy hoof-beat of frisky Sagittarius carries you away into the frenzy of holiday shopping and feasting.

A new paradigm is unfolding in the collective consciousness, one that may alter the social attitude towards consumerism and materialism. Another ‘player’ in the mix, Uranus, suggests that more folks may shift their approach to the holiday season, as conspicuous consumption starts carrying the stigma that fur-wearing and litter-bugging now do. What to do with one’s generosity and celebratory spirit if gift-giving is no longer affordable, or even as much fun as it used to be? We are in liminal space, inhabiting a threshold between cultural forms and behaviors that have become empty of energy and meaning, and new ideals and the gestures that accompany them. These new attitudes are like root tendrils, tenuously taking hold amidst the fertile ferment of cyclical change.

For some, this lunation may carry a mood of disenchantment, a feeling tone unsettled by the disturbance of submerged thoughts and emotions we might not seek to feel. These dark and shadowy inklings are uncomfortable, yet informative. The disillusionment phase is necessary before a new dream can emerge, a fresh vision that carries sparkle, vitality and energy as it merges into the individual and collective consciousnesses to be championed and grounded into a new reality.
